Education is a cornerstone of the Kongsi's activities. The Ngee Ann name has gone on to become synonymous with quality education in the primary, secondary and tertiary education arenas.

One of its earliest initiatives in education was the Tuan Mong School, established in 1906 as a primary school by Teochew clan leaders on Tank Road. In 1953, the Ngee Ann Kongsi took over the management of the school, renaming it Tuan Mong High School and offering only secondary levels. It was situated in the current Teochew Building on Tank Road and had many firsts to its name. It was closed in 1994, due to falling enrolment in the city centre.
